Navigating Through the Cold & Flu Season

Recently I was asked what my "plan of action" is when I get the first symptoms of the cold or flu. And last night while watching the 10:00 news, a reporter claimed that the CDC (Center for Disease Control) has declared the flu an epidemic in the state of Wisconsin. With that in mind I gave more serious thought to what precautions and proactive measures I would take should I start getting sick. So here it goes:
I start taking a supplement called "Wellness Formula" by Source Naturals. It has several different ingredients that include vitamins, minerals and herbs. Herbs that are included in the formula are anti-bacterial, anti-viral and anti-fungal which really provides a wide spectrum of support. Other vitamins and herbs in the formula provide support for the immune system. This supplement can be found at most health food stores.

The Long Nights of Winter

Here we are in January...yes, the days are getting longer, yay!
But the reality of warm spring days are still very distant. To help myself cope with this reality is to start planning my vegetable garden. I leaf through newly published garden and plant catalogues under a blanket with a cup of tea, hopeful and excited about what to plant in the near future.
I found a rosemary hybrid named "Madeline Hill" that is tolerant to zone 5, this sounds intriguing...
I also found an heirloom corn that produces a beautiful blue color, "Hopi Blue Dent". Now I just have to figure out how to keep the raccoons away...
